Data Storage and Security

TipMax uses Apple's CoreData and CloudKit frameworks for data storage. This means your information is either stored:

  • Locally on your device
  • In your personal iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync

Menu files uploaded for flashcard generation are only stored temporarily during the generation process and are automatically deleted afterward. For information about how Apple handles your iCloud data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

AI Services

We currently use OpenAI's services to generate flashcards from your menu content. Please note:

  • We reserve the right to change AI service providers (including but not limited to Google, Anthropic) without prior notice
  • Content submitted for flashcard generation may be processed by these third-party AI services
  • Menu files uploaded for flashcard generation are temporarily stored and automatically deleted after flashcards are created
  • Avoid including personal or identifying information in your menu uploads if you do not wish to share such information with these services

Analytics and Attribution

We use Mixpanel and AppsFlyer to collect anonymous app usage analytics and attribution data. We specifically:

  • Only track feature usage metrics (like which features are used most often)
  • Never track or store any personal information or content you create
  • Do not link any analytics data to user identities
  • Never track or analyze the actual information stored in your menus or flashcards
  • Use this data solely to improve the app experience and understand feature adoption

Advertising and Tracking

We use advertising services and tracking technologies in a privacy-respecting way to:

  • Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns
  • Understand how users discover our app
  • Optimize our marketing efforts

All tracking is completely anonymous and never linked to your identity or stored content. You can control or opt out of advertising tracking through your device settings. On iOS, you can adjust these settings under Settings → Privacy → Tracking.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Any data sharing is limited to:

  • Essential app functionality (AI services for flashcard generation)
  • Anonymous analytics and attribution data
  • Apple's iCloud services if enabled
  • Advertising partners for campaign measurement and optimization
