What benefits can servers get in Georgia?

The short answer
The rule in Georgia
| Georgia Pathways to Coverage | Health coverage for residents 19 to 64 who aren’t otherwise eligible for traditional Medicaid, with household income up to 100% of the federal poverty level. |
|---|---|
| The 80-hour rule | At least 80 hours a month of qualifying activities: full- or part-time work, job training, community service, vocational or college study, or SNAP Works; parents of a child under 6 also qualify. Activities may be verified at application and each renewal. |
| How to apply | On the Georgia Gateway website or at a Division of Family & Children Services office. |
| Georgia Access | Georgia’s state-based exchange, run by the Insurance Commissioner’s office. You can enroll through its consumer portal, a certified agent, or a web broker or insurer. Open enrollment for 2026 ran November 1, 2025 to January 15, 2026. |

What’s different in Georgia
Pathways is built around hours, which suits a server with a steady schedule: about 20 hours a week of shifts gets you to 80 a month (our arithmetic). Slow months are the risk, so keep a record of the hours you worked in case you’re asked to verify them. The income limit is the poverty line itself, so count your tips when you check whether you’re under it.
For marketplace coverage, Georgia runs its own state-based exchange, Georgia Access, through the Insurance Commissioner’s office. You can sign up through the state’s portal or through a certified agent, web broker, or insurance company, and 2026 open enrollment ran from November 1 to January 15. Plus the federal programs.
