No Tax on Tips (federal)
Federal, 2026

The short answer
The federal qualified tips deduction lets eligible workers deduct up to $25,000 of qualified tips per return for tax years 2025 through 2028, claimed on Schedule 1-A Part II. It lowers federal income tax only. Social Security, Medicare, and your state may still tax your tips.
